15 hp johnson evinrude bogs

I have a 74 or 75 15 horse johnson evinrude. Just<br />installed rings, gaskets, coils, impeller kit, carb kit and plugs. The motor runs fine in a barrel. Idles good and runs good wide open in gear. You put the hood on, it still idles good and runs good at a low speed and when in gear.<br />Twist the throttle wide open in gear and it falls on its face. It's as if it's not getting<br />enough air. Need help.

You are correct at what you said. It isn't getting enough air! No load on it in a barrel. Go to where you can "skin it back" and adjust the high speed jet that way. Should get your attention!!
