Hey guys, new to the forum and need some help. I have a 15 hp gamefisher model 225581505 and have a couple of stupid questions. First which is the number 1 cylinder top or bottom. Second I am getting no spark on either cylinders, is there a way to check the coils to see if they are good. I had the boat running good in a barrel so I decided to take it to the lake. I could get it to start but when I put it into gear it would die. After 30 minutes I got mad and came back home. i tried to start it today and now no spark. one of the plug wires is marked #1 and thought I might have them crossed. Could this cause my no spark issue or are the coils probally bad. That is why I would like to check them before I spend any money.

In my experience... 2 cylinder engines have their TOP cylinder spark plug wire marked with a sleeve over the insulation.

I think it's unlikely that switching the plug wires would cause your "no spark" failure.

According to Sears:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/par...10000270/00005?blt=06&prst=0&shdMod=225581505
Your outboard uses an electronic ignition module - which can fail at any time. And it won't necessarily be an "no/off" failure. It can go into 'weak spark' mode downhill.

Good luck!

I do not.
But that doesn't mean you won't find an answer.
You COULD luck out and learn about someone who reverse-engineered that suspect module and revealed its inner workings.

Just as an aside, assuming that outboard ran well before the failure, Sears' price for a replacement doesn't seem too bad. Also, you could always haunt ebay or Craigslist for a used module.
Good luck.
