15 horse mercury 4 stroke

I was trolling my motor for an hour and then on the way back to port my motor began popping at 3 quarter throttle....ran for awhile and then stalled.....ran for awhile and stalled.....could water in the fuel cause this?

It could, but so could several other things.

Air leak, bad fuel pump, dirt in the carb, eletrical issue, short in the wiring, pinched fuel line, vent in the fuel tank either close or plugged, spark plug, bad vavle and/or seat, just to name a few.

Most of the time on any of the 15hp or smaller 4 strokes the carb is the issue and a quick cleaning makes life better, but the problem is normally at low RPM's where it has problems running, not high RPM's.

Usually my motor problem begins after I have run it for awhile....I always check to see that it is peeing....thanks....Dan
