A hardy hello to all the knowledgeable and helpful boaters here. After several years of inside storage I am about to embark on the use of a Sears Gamefisher 15 hp outboard. This engine ran great the last time it was used, and I myself was the one using it. It belonged to my late father-in-law and was very lightly used when I used it and has not been used since. I am planning on servicing it this weekend and hope to have it running then. After lots of research I do know it is a 1984 model made by Eska for Sears. FIL bought it new. If anyone can provide me with any suggestions and or information on this machine it would be greatly appreciated. IMG_1428.jpgIMG_1427.jpg

Check for spark, get a carb kit maybe they are cheap, add in-line fuel filter between tank and carb. If it fires up your golden. I dont see where it says its a solid state ignition so Id check points if no spark. 40:1 mix on fuel. Check spark plug etc.

I will be trying it out Saturday. It is solid state ignition. Will be using new plugs also. Finding information on this motor seems hard to find. If it works as good as it did the last time I am golden. It has less than 50 hours on it.

Well I started to ol gamefisher today. After a little hot and miss it started and ran great. One thing I noticed was when pulling starter rope i saw water coming out the pee hole. But when running not a bit. Any suggestions for a not so much knowledge guy?

You should see a mist of water coming out the exhaust ports on the back of the leg. If not it needs an impellor

A little update. I got ambitious and removed lower unit. Impeller was there but not in a nice condition. Waiting on the parts now. Note to all the nubies, Make sure to keep up with the pin! Kinda hard to find once you lose it! Anyway wish me luck in putting things back together! Hey, I only lost one part so there!
