140hp Johnson info

Just got a 1985 140hp Johnson VRO last week Model# J140TLCO Serial# G7036011 good compresstion i messed up and hooked up the battery rong and tryed turning it over. i hook it up the right way did i hert anythig? it started and i took it out for a test lap. dose not want to idal and no top end. pulled plugs out and bottom two had carbon put new plugs in champion 77JC4 it had 78 plugs in it i pulled the cover off the carbs and a half cup of fuel spilled out also found a pinched fuel hose going to the top carbs replaced hose and tryed to start it and it would not start pulled 77JC4 plugs out and bottom two where soked turnd motor over with out plugs and it looked liked a lot of gas spraying out of bottom two cyclinders pulled the carb cover off agen and more gas spilled out

Stuck or misadjusted float in at least one carb, Hotrod. Probably the bottom one.<br /><br />Good luck.

Also, by hooking the battery up backwards, you probably popped the rectifier (charging system).<br /><br />You may have also popped a fuse for the ignition. Look for a fuse holder near the starter.
