Boating/fishing went well today...but at the end of the day I completely lost forward gear...i'm guessing the cable broken, but curious if it could be anything else?
It will shift into reverse fine, but forward nothing...

When you shift into forward the cable pushes the shift slide back, and when you shift into reverse it pulls the shift slide forward. You have reverse so the cable is not broken. The cable is not moving the shift slide back far enough to engage forward. It may need an adjustment read this starting page 87, may help. http://www.perfprotech.com/store/app_themes/ppt/images/tech-specs/alpha-shift-adjust.pdf if not it may need to have the cable replaced.

While shifting into reverse one of the push rods (top i believe) slides with the the cylinder, when going into forward (bottom) the cylinder seems to slide over the rod...so the lower rod itself is not moving while the top on is.
