140 mercruiser engine removal

Hi. I just joined today and I'm in the process of replacing the rotted transom in my 1988 Starcraft Islander. I have the outdrive off and engine ready to come out and would like to know if the bell housing stays on the engine? Baseically Do I just remove the 2 rear and 1 front mount bolts? Thanks.

Yes it stays on the engine. Remove the two rear mount bolts and the lag bolts holding the front mount to the stringer and lift the engine straight up.
