To all,
Just purchased a project boat last week. It is a 1974 Larson 140 Hp I/O and it is setting in my driveway. I got the engine running and now I am working on the Outdrive. I noticed that I can rotate the prop by hand in either direction regardless of position (forward or reverse). Now I am not a boat guy so I don’t know the ends and outs of Outdrive. I have checked the magnetic and they’re reading 30 ohms on each.
When I put it in gear it spins fairly easy one way and has a little resistance the other. One other piece of information, when I start the engine up and put it in gear, the prop does not move but the engine start idling high. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
