Hi Folks, I just bought a used 14' WD Misty River aluminum boat. Little to know information with the boat other then a riveted plate on the boat. It reads WD-14-15, I assume it means Wide, Deep, 14 Ft and 15' transom. It does no tell me how heavy the boat is. It is rated for a 35 HP and has a load of 460 KG.. These seems to me to be alot for a 14' .. I plan on running a 2011 Two stroke 9.9 yammi on it.

So with this info, could anybody tell me any info about this boat? Think it will get on plain with a 9.9? Not looking for speed at all... Anybody have any experience witht his boat? Info, any info would be great.

Thanks

Generally you want about 70% of the rated max HP for acceptable performance. This can be fudged a bit for a smaller tinnie. However, you're obviously way low. It may plane with just you and a light load but probably not much past that.

I have this boat, with a 20HP two stroke outboard. Under light load, it will fly. You can tube with kids (one spotter), but will bog when towing adults / teenagers. When traveling single in the boat, put the gas tank up front. It will plane faster, and not be as rough in the waves. Under light load, watch your hand on the tiller. No quick turns, this boat corners very quickly at speed and can toss you around quite a bit.

I have towed at 35 foot Bayliner with it (sub walking speed).

It is good in mid-heavy weather, but if you want a rough weather boat, I would look at the 16 or 18.

Our Misty River has given us over 20 years of faithful service, without one stick of maintenance. Good choice of boat.
