Hi Ric, I'm vintage too at 67.Had my own boat when I was 6,10ft with a 1 1/2 Evinrude.
Boat was built to order by a man in Phoenix NY, very basic 10' sharpie.

Its a miracle that I am still alive with all the boat adventures I have been through. I built the first couple boats I owned, the first was an eskimo type kayak, covered in an old canvas awning, the length of the kayak, was determined by the length of the canvas. The first three outboards I owned were all five hp's given to me and requiring rebuilds, this was in the 60's and there were no parts available for any of them then.

Well sad to say the prop didn't help. I think I'm going to remove all the wood etc etc and see what happens then. It's still very nose high, I had my son hold it at WOT with me on the front and it didn't help. Time to start over or get a 20hp.

Thats too bad.I forget; have we confirmed the Honda is in good health?
Compression check ,Throttle opening all the way.Running on both cylinders?
Did the prop improve things any?Is the boat indeed a small 14.measures under 14' rated for 10 hp?

I can't confirm the compression. Here is what I do know. The boat is a 14' Lowe. 14'Sport V. The motor has very low hours nearly brand new. I've removed the engine cover and manually worked the throttle. I can't say for sure because I'm at work but I think it's rated for a 20 hp. It is running on both cylinders. With the new prop it seems to dig in more in the rear the engine drops even further about an inch from covering that little exhause port.
