I am getting this project started, a 14' Runaboat 1970 or so, I have a 40hp Jonhson\Evinrude. It is written Big Twin on the front of the engine cover, I have been told that it was a before 1980 model but not sure. Anyone who as picture of boats like this one or any repair manuel for taht kind of engines, it would be appreciated.

I have a 14 foot project I'm working on as well. It's a 1967 Glastron. Here's a link to pics of what I've done.
web page

Re: 14' Runaboat PROJECT

If you go up in the Johnson/Evinrude repair forums and post an outboard question with the serial number and horsepower/# of cylinders, someone should be able to tell you the year.

Outonbiz, I checked your pics out. Good ol' Runabout Renovation, I have a copy of that myself. Great book. It keeps it simple like it should be. Your rig is turning out good. For me, having the structure done was the most satisfying part of the project. After that it was all downhill...

Agreed. After All the glassing was done I started sanding. That was almost 1 year ago. I've been sanding ever since. I think I will continue sanding on this hull forever.

Are they floatable Bondo? I really like those hulls. The earlier model has the center fiberglass "console" right?

Re: 14' Runaboat PROJECT

Both of these Look Exactly like Yours.....
The 1967 would float with a little bit of work,+ a Motor....
It last ran a few years ago with a 135hp "Tower of Power".... #5 Rod Exited the Block.. End of ride.....
The 1961 is on it's way to becoming the basic hull(mold) for a SBC powered Jetboat..... :D
The hull is separated,+ pretty well ground out.... Stringer grid is next....

Re: 14' Runaboat PROJECT

I am in the midst of re-designing the decking for my early 1960s Glasspar G-3 12-footer - hull is in a similar vein to the 'Trons. Basically, I bought a shell - deck was alread seperated from the hull, stingers and keel are already gone. The decks are very rough, and I am thinking of redoining the same basic layout in mahogany ply. Should look sweet - I hope! I've got a fresh '69 Merc 500E short shaft for power. This comes after the Starcraft American 15 project, though...
- Scott
