13ft Boston Whaler Smart Tab install?

I want to install the set of Smart Tabs I've had in the garage for over a year now on my little 13 foot boston whaler with a 40hp outboard....

I would like to know how low I should install the Hinge on the transom?....I know there is a recommendation in the instructions but the "Hook" in the hull may throw off this measurment....

Do I need to install them lower on the transom to compensate for the hook?....I have been wanting to look back there to see where the water is flowing off of the transom but I only fish at night and its too scary to lean back and look with a flashlight at 32mph.....

Also....Do the Smart Tabs effect the sonar reading if there installed next to my transducer? What about them being next to my livewell pump?...

I don't have a lot of room to spare on my little 13 foot boats transom.....Thanks in advance for any suggestions.....Warren
