135 strangler rude

This motor was not run for a few years.
I gave it straight away to the marine mech.
they did a rebuild on carbs, replaced the stator and power pack, and plugs.

The motor seems to run well, sounds good. here is the problem.
The boat had a 88 sp with a bad piston but ran. It would go 21 to 22 MPh
The 135 will only go 15 to 16 mph.
I have run 15 gal and 32 ounces of sea foam through it.
The prop is a 14X21
also i have noticed that the fuel bulb will not stay full.
I have tried 3 diff tanks with 2 diff bulbs and lines.
all have same results bulb wont stay hard.
Is it starved for fuel and or prop wrong. Or something else

The bulb will not remain firm after the engine starts and is running. What PRM is the engine turning at wide open throttle?

What boat are you running the motor on?

What are the compression readings?

What spark plugs aree you using?

The primer bulb should not stay hard, but it should not collapse.

What pitch prop were you using on the 88?

I am new to the big motor seen. looks like i need a lot more info. and a lot to learn. so be patient everyone.
I will work on getting comp. and rpms.

Below the 4500 RPM level the 135 isn't that much more powerful than the 88 so you may be overpropped. You might want to try the 15 pitch prop, but be careful that you don't over-rev.

Those 135's came with a 21 pitch prop from the factory, but those are best on regular speed boats, not pontoons. Follow ezeke's advice on propping.

Thanks for the prop info the other prop that came with the motor is 12 3/4 X 21.
I just purchased a comp. gauge so i can get the readings on aLL pistons. Should have that done tomarro.

Hay everone just did comp check all 4 readings are 123psi
123psi. 122psi, 124psi.
Ido believe that is good.
I am working on getting a tac to show rpm asap thanks again. Mike
