Hey everyone, i have a 1973 MFG just got (first boat) real nice. Love it. Got it out today. But Had a problem. Took to Mechanic for inspection. Said the motor was great. It is. Said the carb didn't need a cleaning. Just had a fuel line replace, just the line that goes from the Tank to the engine.
Today the engine stopped and I had a hell of a time starting it back up . The starter would engage for a little while and not turn the engine over. It was like it would engage and just let go. I thought that might be normal. At times it would just turn the motor. I thought it might be battery juice, but the batter was new (actually both batteies were new) Finally 2 times I got it started. Out on the lake ran great, got it up to 37 MPH. and it was clean.
So I got to the boat launch and thought, okay let me trouble shoot this. My plan was to video tape it and take it to the mechanic. Well it started up beautifully 5 times. Like butter. I couldn't beleive it. What do you think that could of been?? I thought it might be fuel. The connection on the motor doesn't snap in. and I think it's suppose to. So I wonder if it wasn't getting the right fuel??
Any insight would be appreciated... Thanks...
