my 125 has single exhaust. If I look for an 85/90hp with lower with 2.1 gears. will that lower have to be single exhaust as well? Or will a dual exhaust lower work?
A dual exhaust LU will fit and work if it is a Force LU.
Later in 1995-96 they changed LU to a Mercury style..
85Hp was built until 1989 and in 1990 it became 90 Hp with larger displacement.
I think the 90Hp had 2 piece drive shaft, the 85Hp did not.
Maybe jerryjerry can confirm if that is right.
I'm quite sure the 85 HP LU will fit. The late Frank A had a thread on this one. You might want to search it for confirmation. Not sure about the 90 HP. But yes, some people actually prefer the 85HP LU for its lower gear ratio of 2.01:1 while the 125HP has the 1.93:1 ratio.
