125 Mariner speedometer

I have a new 125 mariner, and can't get the engine speedomet to work- the gauge works when I put air to it, but when I connected the gauge hose to the engine I get nothing- I cleaned out the pitot and cut the tip off of the connector- any ideas?

You are on the right track.Can you get air thru the entire hose? This is the problem if the gauge werks. There isn't anything else to these speedometer systems. Just add water, and it will werk,if the line and petit are open.

Take the hose off the back of the speedo and blow through the tube you should have a clear passage back to the pitot. If not find the obstruction and you are home free. One thing to look for is tight zip ties where the speedo tube is tied to the other cables etc.
