Rebuilding the powerhead and wanted to know if using petrolium jelly to install the needle bearings to the piston arm is an exceptable alternative to needle bearing grease?

yes it is fine, although the bearing grease is cheap, all you need is to hold the bearings stationary, petrolieum jelly is used quite often

Thanks Dave. My local marine supplier did not have any needle grease on hand and would have to backorder. Looking at a sample, it reminded me of petrolium jelly and that is why I asked the question.<br />Again Thanks...
