Question for those of you out there using pourable foam for things. I have a request to build something out of foam covered in fiberglass, and I'm thinking I can mold pourable foam to shape, carve it a bit, then glass over it.

I'd like to do this with 2 lb. cubic foot foam and 1208 fabric with poly resin. If I do this, how resistant to puncture and delamination would the result be?

Would it handle a 300 lb person sitting on it? How about impact with a dock at low speed?

Would I need to use a denser foam?

Erik

PS: I have a winter project picked out, but I won't be starting it until it gets colder out, maybe in a month or six weeks. I'll start a new thread then.

awww comon erik......dont make me start chomping at the bit for your next proj !!!!! :D

and as far as the question .....the foam is only a shape to glass to.....all the stregnth is in the glass......none from the foam.......so your question really is.....how much glass do i use........simple.....for the dock.....3 or 4 layers....for the 300 lber.......test it.......do a patch and jump on it till you know !

cheers my friend
