120 omc 1976

Hi Guys , ok i have a omc 120 1976 4cyl ,i just put the motor in the boat got gas got spark will run only when i crank the starter when i stop cranking the motor quits any sugestion to what i did wrong? or what could possibly be wrong ?

Check voltage at the coil. Should have 12 volts when key is on...

thanks Ill try that, I tryed a few min ago and no voltage only when i crank then none

Ayuh,... there ya go, you didn't hook up the primary igntion.....

hmmm ok im lost and witch wire would that be ,you see the wire harness is old ,and it was a used boat so a color or what to look for would be somthing i need to do,and thx for your reply ill look
