120 mercruiser acceleration probs

I have a Renken 87 model with mercruiser 120 on out. It idles fine, but when I give it acceleration it dies. It does fine in reverse just not forward. Any suggestion? Thanks Charles

lower shift cable......replace it...... with a mercruiser cable (proper quality cable)...

or perhaps a accelerator pump failure in the carb..... since it's fine in reverse, i'd suspect the cable though.... a bad cable will cause the shift interrupt to operate (interrupt) at inappropriate times.....


just a 1st guess......

Help. Mercruiser on a Arrowglass. Take boat to lake get in water put in gear it won't accelerate at all. The fish are passing us. Prop is brand new, new spark plugs. I know nothing about boats and my husband is geting VERY frustated. Any ideas on where to start?
