12.9 Chrysler parts & problem 1973 model

This ole motor ran well then stareted to die when put into gear. Revs up fine in neutral but dies when put into forward or reverse.Checked the lower unit and all is fine there. Also need advice on where to get a starter brush for this motor. If there is a schematic for this motor that would be helpful.<br />Garry<br />Milburn Oklahoma

Just to double check turn it by hand in neutral<br />then put it in gear and turn by hand if it seems about the same.Start her up and try a little choke when you shift to forward if it helps then you probably have a fuel distribution problem.Most likely a dirty carb.Usually a rebuild is in order.With special attention to cleaning all passages and jets.If you are not certain of the condition of the fuel system you should check it.

You should really be working with a repair manual.If you don't want to by one you might find one at the library.

Thanks for the advice ....I will try to get the manual. That motor is the pits to work on. I guess the power head has to be pulled to get the carb off...Will a manual tell me all this? And can you sugget one and where to purchase.<br />Thanks again<br />Garry
