12/24 volt wiring

I am trying to wire an older minn-kota 599 with the foot control. It has a switch to choose 12 or 24 volt power. The connecter has three wires that come from the motor and three wires on the other side. I know I need two batteries but I'm not sure how to wire them. Can anyone help me?

Forgot to mention, if your trolling motor socket at the bow does not have a 12/24V selector just ignore the switch in the diagram. It also doesn't matter which terminals you use on the socket or the plug as long as the motor wires match with the socket wiring. Red is normally 24V, orange is 12V and white or black is ground.
