Hope someone can help me with a problem. I have a 1985 115 hp mariner outboard. its an inline non dist 6 cyl. I cant get it to idle under 1,000 rpm. I've replaced the carb floats (had one bad), fuel inlet needles, cleaned and blew out the carbs, replaced the plugs, replaced all the gas line , primer bulb, and fuel filter. It has good gas and the fuel pump seems to be ok. I timed and synched the carbs and ignition. It starts and runs great, i just cant get it to idle at rpm that the manual states which is 500 to 600 rpm. I've adj the idle screws but it doesnt help. I noticed when i was replacing the plugs i checked the compression(110+-3psi) that i didnt have any fire on the 2,4,6 cyl. I'm assuming only 3cyl fire until it starts up or it wouldnt run as well as it does other than a low idle problem. I also checked the fuel pump and it also seems to be ok. If i still have the ignition timing off a little, would it give me an idle issue? I'm running out of things to check.
