need help timing the ignition on this any pointers?

There are a number of issues related to timing that motor.

What are you trying to achieve?

Do you have an issue that you are trying to fix?

Or is this just something you "want" to do?


They don't time like a car.

Although a timing light might be used to check the max advance. That can be done after running it out of gas, flooring it and seeing where the the flashes land on the flywheel while cranking.

Do a search on the "Timing and Synch" of inlines to 1988, by Clams Canino, and you will find the info you need.

Idle pickup timing is 4-6 degrees BTDC and Max Spark adv is 21 Degrees BTDC, on that dissy motor.
