There are a number of issues related to timing that motor.
What are you trying to achieve?
Do you have an issue that you are trying to fix?
Or is this just something you "want" to do?
They don't time like a car.
Although a timing light might be used to check the max advance. That can be done after running it out of gas, flooring it and seeing where the the flashes land on the flywheel while cranking.
