My last prop purchase was a SS Solace 4 blade $275. Sometimes money isn't everything and that price for that prop and its performance is a bargain.actually, i didn't know that as i've never looked at a stainless.....but, eh, money.....
That's great..happy for you.My last prop purchase was a SS Solace 4 blade $275. Sometimes money isn't everything and that price for that prop and its performance is a bargain.
That's some great results. Thanks for the update! Was this up river or down river? Not sure what kind of flow you are on and how it affects your speed.ok....got out on the river today. It was windy and a little rough. But I saw 27 mph and 6000 rpm. with the black max, 3 blade, 16x13...I think I'm where I want to be. I did not have the full bimini up..so there's that....I don't think the spitfire, 4 blade, 14x12 would be better......
If I was driving for perfection (although I think you’ve done so well as things are now)…I might suggest that if you can find a prop of a little more pitch but less diameter (that one is a huge diameter now)…you may offset the pitch a little to keep you near the top end of the rpms. But then you might just take away the advantage of the extra rpms that the pro xs has over the normal 115. Or…you might just find a little more lift from a stainless and gain a few rpms and get into the early 6000’s that the pro xs can see over the normal 115. Gamble though. Not sure what’s out there in terms of the big props that’s as low as that in pitch though. That's great..happy for you.
There are no 3 blade, stainless, 16x13 , 43/4 in. gearcase props that I can see. The cheapest SS (solas) , new, I saw was $302.....
$167 for mine......It's a pontoon....
So, the wind was blowing against the current. the speed is gps. I saw the 27 mph@6000 heading into the wind but with the current.....I saw 25mph@ about 58-5900 rpm against the current but with the wind.....the water was rough, I was getting sprayed, and more concentrated on making sure i didn't hit something.......That's some great results. Thanks for the update! Was this up river or down river? Not sure what kind of flow you are on and how it affects your speed.
Yeah for sure. I’m battling rpm’s a lot where I’m at now, so lower pitch is going to help me. I talked to another member with a 22’, same engine and he had the same results as you with the 14x14 prop. My engine is low I believe so I’m fighting that. I looked at raising the engine but it’s a bit tricky as I have a tow bar. To move the engine up I would either have to remove the tow bar, or drill a new mounting hole in the higher position to retain the tow bar. Or get a jack plate as some suggested. I may just remove the tow bar for now as I likely won’t be doing any towing this season.to dcwilson: remember, my pontoon boat is 24' and yours is 22', so the same prop and motor is gonna have different results for us.....
to texas: that's why I made runs in both directions......it's not speed I'm aiming for, it's rpm performance under a certain load.....reporting speed is just for info only
and all my comments are strictly FYI and FWIW....they are not recommendations....
Yeah I have the same TurboSwing. The problem is, it uses 2 bolts on each side of the upper motor mount. So the dealer popped an extra hole on each side to accommodate the tow bar. Now if I move the motor up one or two holes, the additional hole needed for the tow bar is no longer accessible. I would have to pop another hole higher up for the tow bar again. Unsure if I want to put another hole in the engine pod though.. That would be 3 holes on each side of the upper mount.welll...now that you brought up tow bars and interference.....this is what i have, and I was able to put my new merc 115 on my pontoon keeping the same bar I had on with the 60 hp merc.....the bar pivots up with the motor also when parked and trailering...........but if you're not using it....
How did that prop do? I'm having major blow out issues and spent $900 on 4.25 props because not one prop expert caught that I had CT. Also what hole is your motor mounted on. I just lifted mine from the bottom to the one below the highest it will go and now I blow out when slightly turning. Going ot lower it down 2 pegs I think. I have a 2017 22ft suntracker party barge dxl with the 115 pro xs ct and the large toonsYeah for sure. I’m battling rpm’s a lot where I’m at now, so lower pitch is going to help me.
