115 mariner help

i picked up a 115 mariner with broken pinion gear.lower unit was apart when i got it.i have it all back together.now i am trying to put the lower unit back on.tryinh to figure out the foreward neutral and reverse.i have put this unit on half dozen times still not getting it right.need help please.

Put the lower unit in neutral, put the remote control in neutral. If you try in forward it won't work because the shift cam in the lower unit can be in up to 130 degrees of rotation and the box will still be in forward.
