115 Jonson Lync and Sync Question?

I have a 1998 115 90 degree CV4 Johnson and I just replaced the powerhead with a rebuilt one. Someone told me to do a lync and sync on it but I don't know what it is. Can someone please shed some light on this for me?

It's the syncronization of spark and throttle plate pick up.

The procedure is to long to post. Best thing to do is get a manual and do the procedure step by step.
