Hi everyone

I have 2003 115 hp Johnson ocean outboard. i was pushing it pretty hard the other day and took a tight turn and the motor stalled out. I now cannot get the motor to turn over. The moror will crank at times, but sometimes I can only hear the started spooling. The started does engafe the fly wheel and spin it. I thought it maybe a plug had been fouled so I changed that plugs.

any suggestions?

Thank you

Re: 115 johnson issue

I pulled of the engine cover today and noticed that above the flywheel cover there was a piece that was broken. It was bolted to the shaft that came through the flywheel I think. It looks like something for timing as it had one section with 30 through -30 and a 234. I'm assuming this has something to do with the cylinders. The top of the piece had snapped from the base. I apologize if this is confusing as I do not know much about these engines. I can't help but think this has something to do with why it will not start.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thank you

It sounds like you need a OMC Service Manual for that motor. You can look on the crowleymarine.com site for the exploded dirgrams of the motor. You may be able to id the piece that broke off.
