I have a 1963 Glastron with a 110 hp mercruiser (chevy 4 cyl) with a cracked block, what is the difference this motor and a 120 hp mercruiser? looks like the same engine. Will my engine interchange with a 120hp or even a 140hp mercruiser (Chevy) 4 cyl?

Re: 110 mercruiser swap

Sparky,
I have a few mercruiser booklets here from the 64-66 era. My boat has the 110 HP mercruiser with outdrive Type 1A. The 120 hp from the same era is listed with the outdrive being Type 1B. The 150 HP model was listed with the 1C.

The stuff I have here says the 110 and 120 are identical as far as bore and stroke, same firing order, etc. It's as if they were the same motor. The 150 was a 6 cilynder.

For the life of me i can't figure out where the additional 10 HP came from.

If you're wanting to go the 120 or 140 route, find an old doner glass boat with a good power plant and just swap both the engijne and outdrive.
