Thanks to all of the advice about our 1979 Johnson motor.<br />It was running hot after 20 minutes or so in the water, but would not run hot on hill with hose.<br />We started by replacing the water pump assembly. <br />They did not work. <br />Then we pull the water jackets, heads and exhaust cover. It had alot of salt water build- up and where the water deflectors were had a hole completely blocked. <br />We replaced the water deflectors and cleaned everything out. <br />We put it in the water and drove it around for more than two hours without the dreaded alarm sounding! <br />Thanks for all of the advice. It helped us out especially since this is our first boat and problems! I am sure I will need more advice as time goes by.<br />Sandra and Steve <br />back on the water!
