Yes I just bought a boat with a 100hp year 72 motor. It runs very strong. But I do not see any water shooting out of the back of it. Should there be? is there any thing else I need to do or check for? What would the gas mixture be? How do I tell if the impeller is working? Thanks all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Clifton Barnard

Hey Clifton, There is no telltale water hole on that year motor. Gas mix is 50-1. Change out impeller with a new one easier to do that now than to overheat motor. Change Lower Unit fluid .That year uses Type "C" L/U fluid... different than others because of the hydro-electric drive. Get a manual I found mine on ebay 25 bucks. good luck and welcome to iboats. Water should blow out the two holes in the back in a spray. The only way to tell if the water pump is working is to put the boat and motor in the water and see if the water is blowing out the holes.

Running on muffs means nothing as far as the pump goes. You are forcing the water through with hose pressure.

Running in a bucket is even worse. But if you are, the motor has to be deep enough to submerge the pump.
