Currently my transom thickness is 1 7/8 inches thick. I have a peice of 1/8 inch laun that i was thinking of using to make it a full 2 inches thick where the transom plates bolt. Would that work? I only ask cause i have a peice laying around that is the right size.

Are you taking about the underlayment for linoleum? Plywood with soft center sandwiched by two outer layers of thin wood veneer? I think it will collapse under pressure. Try to saturate a small piece with resin and see what happens to it.

I used an old road sign for spacer for a project a few years back. Picked it up at a county aution for a few bucks. Please don't steal the stop sigh at the end of your street though....:D

loks like a diamond plate would work there.
