I'm in the process of replacing the transom on my 16' Smoker Craft aluminum boat, but I can't find replacements for the two 1/2" OD motorwell drain tubes. I had to destroy the old ones getting them out. Does anyone know where I might be able to find replacements? The originals were aluminum, but I'll take what I can get.

1/2 sounds small, absolutely sure they arent 3/4 or bigger?

Yes, I measured the OD on both with calipers after I pulled them out and they were identical. I'm thinking they had to be factory by the looks of it. I don't dare go bigger though as the holes are already drilled just above the motor well. I'm wondering if Smoker Craft used a "bastard" size. The tag on the boat says it was built in 1974 so who knows what they did 45 years ago.

Well for better or worse I rigged a solution since I needed to finish my project. It turns out that 1/4" brass pipe has an O.D. of 1/2"' the same as the drain tubes I removed. Since my new transom is 1-1/4"thick, I bought a 2" piece with threaded ends. I also bought a couple of 1/4" female threaded couplings which I cut in half and then ground to about 1/4" that I used as nuts. I pushed the pipe nipples through the transom, sealed the ends with 5200 sealant and tightened the homemade nuts. Since the inside ends aren't at the low point I may have to drill holes in the nuts to allow better drainage. It's not as pretty as the original, but I will paint it all when the sealant cures and no one will be likely to notice. Problem solved....I hope.

Just a follow up on the repair I made per my above post. The drains function well and look much better than I had anticipated. After spray paint it looks like it belongs. It also drains about as good as before and I'm going to keep it as is. Success.
