1 1/2 inch of steering slop at rear of drive

I have a 2001 5.0 GL SX-M drive with about 1 1/2 inches of left to right steering slop at rear of drive. There is no play in the up/down direction. Is there an adjustment or is something worn out?

Ayuh,..... If it's got power steering, 90% of that slop will go away when you start it,....
The hyd. shuttle valve is loose, til pressurized,.....
