Carholme: "From 6-36, para 13 of the service manual:

13. Check shift operation as follows:
a. Place shift lever in FORWARD. Gear housing should ratchet when propeller shaft
is turned clockwise and resistance should be felt when propeller is turned counterclockwise.
b. Place shift lever in NEUTRAL. Resistance should NOT be felt when propeller shaft
is rotated in either direction.
c. Place shift lever in REVERSE. Resistance should be felt when propeller shaft is rotated
in either direction."

i checked when i got home and looks like neutral feels same way as fwd gear, counter clock i the engine turns over and clicks clock wise. reverse just clicks in both directions. Looks like i will need to readjust the shift linkage. Do i need to take off the lu at all for this?

Update: I readjusted the shift linkage and it took like 10 minutes. Every looks right according to the manual. Now i need to wait until the water warms up so i can test this outboard in the water.
