Looking at a new, never run Opti 150 straight from the crate. My question id this......does anything need to be done, or are there any concerns about an engine that old just sitting, even though never run? I know that it will still be under new warranty, but I'd just as soon not break down on the water even if it would be fixed for free!

Thanks for the input.

Re: '05 Opti 150 new from crate--concerns?

if its a 5 year old motor I would pull the plugs out and dump some 2 stroke oil down the cylinders and rotate it by hand and make sure it spins smooth. I'd then bump the motor with the starter and do a compression check and make sure it's up to snuff and the cylinders didn't rust up to bad. And I would replace the water pump before even running it the first time.

And that would be before i even think about buying it, no matter how good a deal.
