Hello all,

Hoping you guys and gals could help me out. I have a 03 140 Johnson that has worked great. The other day I went out, it was a little ruff out in the water but I ran about a mile down at full speed and then stopped and started to get the boat ready to set the anchor when the check engine light came on and it started to beep. So I turned the engine off and waited about 30 mins and just turned the key so it could do the pre-checks before I turned it on. The check engine light came on, then it had this pattern. Blinked twice...then blinked three times, then blinked twice. So I had a friend start to tow me in and on the way in I keep checking the light to see if it was still on. It went off so I turned the engine back on and the check engine light came on, and started to beep again. I turned it off, then back on...it was gone. I ran the boat the rest the day with no issues at all, ran like a dream. Any ideas?

I'd have a dealer put a laptop on it and see exactly what codes you have. There might be some info in your owners manual also. The blinking lites are trying to tell you something but I don't know what as it's a 4 stroke.

Yes it is a four stroke. Will he still be able to see the codes even tho the check engine light is off now?

Hopefully the ECU should have stored them.
