03 f75 Yamaha water pump

Just bought a used boat from a dealer they claim to have run it through there shop. ... it's bugging me if I should still take the lower unit off and check the impeller. ... or maybe just stick it in a barrel and fire it up?

Maybe ask them if they replaced the impeller recently....otherwise the only way to be sure is order a water pump kit, drop the lower unit and replace it....it's not a real tough job and you'll have the satisfaction of doing it....remove/check/replace the thermostat at the same time.....

Took the lower unit off... there was a small black hose connected right behind the gear shifter spline thing.... what is that? I was able to screw it off... but Idk if I can screw it back on without twisting the hose up...
