3.0 140 won't go into gear without staling.

New to forum, thanks for having me. I just rebuilt carb on a 3.0 140hp mercruiser., now I cant get things adjusted to stay running when put into gear, morso reverse. Some people say to have RPM at 1500 some say 1000, nothing works.....:confused:

Make sure that the shift interupter is adjusted properly if it is killing the engine for too long engine will die.

Does the engine do fine if you rev it without putting it in gear?

Yes, runs good. What is the proper RPM at idle? How do you adjust interupter? thanks
