    Merc 40hp gearbox/lower unit

    hi all, I have just changed a shift shaft on the above mentioned engine and I am now trying to replace the lower unit/gearbox. I seem to get it almost back into position except for the last 1.5/2.0 inches. Has anyone any tips or advice please? Many thanks, Spangler.
