    My only concern is that this boat was having fuel delivery issues, and I just spent $400 getting my OMC (Holley) carb professionally rebuilt; can I use Mercruiser outdrive/controls and OMC manifold? If nothing else I’ll pull everything from the donor boat and can switch things out later…

    Found a donor! ‘93 Bayliner Classic. It’s all Mercruiser, so will be buying a new exhaust manifold and using my carb/accessories. Will try to recoop some of the cost by selling the Mercruiser manifold & carb, and the trailer is decent so I’ll sell that as well. Only paid $600 for the package...

    So just so I’m clear, are the OMC and Mercruiser 3.0 block and head the same? If I was to find a Mercruiser engine, would I just have to swap accessories/manifold/etc?

    I’m relatively mechanically inclined…never done a motor swap (other than one motorcycle) so I’m hoping to do it myself, if I can find a good deal on a motor!

    Awesome information, thank you! The transom, floor and seats seem to be in great shape, which is the only reason I’m considering replacing the engine. I only have about $1200 invested so far; obviously new or reman would far exceed the value, so I’m hoping to find used.
