    Water pump leak?

I don’t know if the manifolds are original or not. I would assume they predate the motor. The intake gasket is an automotive gasket so I assume the motor from jagers may not have been assembled for marine use. The intake doesn’t appear to be rusted out. I’m wondering if I should test the...

    Water pump leak?

It’s pretty rusty in there. I think I need to check and clear the water jacket for blockages. Does anyone know how I would go about doing this? I haven’t had any luck finding a good how-to online. Also wondering if maybe it’s time to start a new post as this has drifted far away from a “water...

    Water pump leak?

So pulled the intake off, and don’t see any clogs. I was expecting to see something…. I didint realize the rear holes were closed off. So I think the water that was in the intake manifold was just from the boat being tilted slightly back.

900 zxi is idling at 6k on hose

Also, does anyone know if these ducts are worth buying the OEM versions? Or am I ok with some rubber ones on Amazon

900 zxi is idling at 6k on hose

I assume we should pull this carb setup and goes searching for debris?

900 zxi is idling at 6k on hose

Okay, well 1 issue identified. I think these were all broken on the last motor we swapped out. I don’t know what they do or why they’re there. Do I just take out all the broken bits and run it? I’m thinking not. I pulled a big chunk out of the center carb, and a big chunk out of another one. I...

900 zxi is idling at 6k on hose

Last time we took it out, it did idle kinda high at like 2k. Today, we started it in the driveway to make sure it was good and it’s idling at 6k. Turned it off pretty quick obviously but any ideas?

    Water pump leak?

Couple things, short version 1st. Standing water is still in intake manifold area with water pump, manifolds and all drain plugs removed (pics attached). I assume this means there is a clog(s) somewhere between the intake and the circulation pump. After draining the water from the block drains...

    Water pump leak?

Will do. Only thing that may also be worth mentioning is couldn’t get the motor to turn with the starter when we only took 1 plug out and left the rest in. Had to take them all out and then could use the starter to turn over for the testing. Not sure how that affects the results or what could...

    Water pump leak?

😑 yes. Main find - Removed the plug for #4, water poured out. This was cold compression test as I had already removed the exhaust. 1 180 3 170 5 178 2 186 4 1st attempt 250 and shooting water. 2nd attempt 210 and still wet 6 182

    Water pump leak?

I’m not sure if I go some water down into a couple of the cylinders when I removed the manifolds, but 1 cylinder on each side had some water in there. I dried them with a rag. Figured I should mention it. That’s what one of the pictures above is. Also worth noting, in earlier comments I was...

These are starboard side pics. Let me know if more/better pics of anything would be helpful.

    Water pump leak?

Okay I pulled the exhaust and took pictures. Looks like the starboard side (the side that has the JB weld on the exhaust pipe) has some evidence of getting too hot. Didn’t find any cracks or anything crazy. Looks a little rusty in there on both sides. These are the port side pics. I’ll put the...

    Water pump leak?

I never thought to ask this but should water be coming out of the exhaust or just from the base of the drive unit? I’m unclear how this works. It’s currently only coming from the base of the drive.

    Water pump leak?

I will do. I’m decently skilled with the right guidance and my neighbor has or has access to most of this. He suggested doing a leak down test and also suggested just pulling the motor and leaving it in the garage over winter so we can take apart and access any damage. Question 1, is there any...

    Water pump leak?

Had not heard that before! I will take that advice going forward. Thanks

    Water pump leak?

I hooked the garden hose up to each hose that runs to the exhaust and water flowed out of the back the boat on both.

    Water pump leak?

This is what it the flow looked like when I was running it the other night, after I changed the raw water pump.

    Water pump leak?

New to me, yes. I’ve taken it out 3-4 times. I ran about 3/4 of a tank of gas through it since I got it. I didn’t notice any temp issues before (although I could have missed it). One thing of note is that one of the exhaust (manifolds?) has JB weld on it and I did notice it leaking once around...

    Water pump leak?

I’m sitting here scraping old gasket off to replace this thermostat and realized it didn’t even have a thermostat in there. So it definitely wasn’t stuck closed!
