    Larson? 58 or later.

I’m the owner of this boat. It’s a Pipestone, I’ve got a feeling it’s an Arrow, or a Chieftain. Guessing the motor is not original. Any information would be appreciated. Built in Pipestone Minn

The leading cause of vibration is propeller damage. Now that I had it refurbished it’s better. I’m not going to change the prop. Engine isn’t lugging or over revving. No tach on this thing

Well, replaced driveshaft, plate under water impeller, top driveshaft seal/ again, and added heat shield to control wire. Yesterday was 85 in MN. Took her out for a good test run. Gear lube looks good, not perfect but better. I’m going to stop with this lower unit before I break it. I’ll switch...

New driveshaft is 200.00 I was leaning in that direction. I see now there is supposed to be a heat shield over the control wires leading to the lower unit. We’ll see if that is available. I’ve got time, won’t see hard water here till about Thanksgiving.

H Had Pressure test done before I changed seals and o’rings. Guy said it held all night. Go figure, but I was getting water in. The bubble test sounds good, at least it’s something I can see. What do I use? Tube, gauge, stater valve ? How much air pressure?

Well I spoke too soon. The lower unit still has water getting into the oil. Went for a ride on Lake Minnetonka yesterday. Found out this 14’ is no match for the wakes made by the rigs on that lake. The only part I haven’t changed is the driveshaft. Gave it a good run, from Gray’s bay landing to...

    VRO Pump Question

Have you considered mixing 50:1 in the tank. Did that with a 1990 Johnson 140 VRO and it idled perfectly. Wish I had done it much sooner.

I installed all the parts available in the thermostat system. The spring was not available, so I used the old one. Test went good, water flow after a bit. At higher rpm’s didn’t see as much water. Is that because the exhaust breaks it into smaller droplets? Never got hot. I didn’t have time to...

It’s a warm and humid day here in South Central Minnesota. Took the boat for a spin, all went well. Seems to have more water discharge at lower rpm. Hot light never came on. I saved all of the old thermostat components. Some are still available. The one that isn’t is the spring under the white...

Are you also of the mind that with the thermostat removed the motor will run cooler than intended. If so what would be the harm? Over heat to me would be catastrophic. I’ve changed the heat sensor, at the lower port side of the power head. If it runs less efficiently, more fuel less air. What’s...

I’m getting warm, not hot water out of the discharge. Once the system is full the discharge path would offer less resistance. I’m getting plenty of water. Jimmbo that makes good sense. The port side tube was dry and dirty. Is that the return tube. If it is, with the thermostat assembly removed...

Water pump issue resolved. Getting good flow. 3 trusted opinions on the thermostat. I’ll leave it out, please feel free to change my mind.
