2007 Merc 4.3MPI slow initial cranking

I have been using the studs on the battery but I have not checked the studs to the post. Years ago I had a battery where the stud was showing full charge and the post was showing 9V. kind of hard to believe the studs could be bad but not impossible. Thanks

2007 Merc 4.3MPI slow initial cranking

One the starboard side, yes. The exhaust manifold is off right now so I pulled them, I was kind of surprised at how good the plugs looked. Will check gaps and reinstall.

2007 Merc 4.3MPI slow initial cranking

I tried the jumper cables yesterday and tested the cables for resistance this morning. Everything checks out good.

2007 Merc 4.3MPI slow initial cranking

Checked resistance on the cables this morning, basically no resistance . . . just based on the accuracy of my meter.

2007 Merc 4.3MPI slow initial cranking

I've taken my time, made sure all connections were clean. Test the resistance of the jumper cables and the grounding stud to the starter bolt holes. All were good.

2007 Merc 4.3MPI slow initial cranking

I've been trouble shooting this problem for a while now. The engine is slow to crank at first and then builds up to a some-what normal speed. I cleaned all connections (that I can find) and applied dielectric grease. Replaced both solenoids (corroded), still slow to crank at first. I bypassed...

Closed cooling through hull valve placement

I appreciate your input. I have a couple more things (far minor) I'd like to try before I get into something like pulling head gaskets but I'll put that on my list of possibles. Thank you.

Closed cooling through hull valve placement

Other than water perking up through the filler, is there any other way to diagnose a head gasket leak?

Closed cooling through hull valve placement

I had the heat exchanger out and thoroughly cleaned/rinsed it out. Water flowed freely from its respective ports, ie. closed or raw water. To some degree, when it heats up it's like my pickup, it has an overflow catch to retain the coolant until it cools back down. With the cap off I have seen...

Closed cooling through hull valve placement

Correct, Alpha 1 G2 I did check the condition of the housing, to say there were marks on the SS plate, best guess there were some maybe a .001 of an inch deep scratches, you could see these were from rotation, nothing noticeable on the sides of the housing. Scaping my fingernail across them...

Closed cooling through hull valve placement

I was told Trophy's are the worst for space, I was thinking this is more toward hose routing in a Trophy. If I'm completely wrong how do I "move" this to the correct area of the forum? Thanks

Closed cooling through hull valve placement

Continued cooling issues . . . I have a 2007 Trophy, 4.3 Mercruiser with a closed cooling system. It continues to overheat when in the water but runs as it should with a garden hose connected, with a Y-fitting, to the inlet hose (through hull ball valve closed). When in the water I made sure...

Alpha 1 Outdrive water flow diagram

Thanks for the info Captain Kenny Nunez I went out and dropped the outdrive, figuratively speaking, and sure enough, the hose from the OD impeller was cut, dumping right back into the water. Couldn't find any male fittings but I do see where it goes through the bulkhead. Thank again for your...

Alpha 1 Outdrive water flow diagram

I have a 2007 Trophy with a 4.3 MerCruiser & Alpha 1 outdrive. I have a closed cooling system and I have gone over the flow diagram many times trying to figure out my cooling issues. I have a thru hull sea water pump cooling the engine system exiting the exhaust risers. I see one inlet at the...
