SEI Alpha 1 Gen 2 lower ratching noise (with video)

Guys thanks for the assistance. I also just watched a video of the drive in operation and now understand the theory of operation. The prop is over running the clutch dog teeth because there is no water pressure against prop helping seat it into the gear which is causing the popping. I'll get her...

SEI Alpha 1 Gen 2 lower ratching noise (with video)

Good evening all. I recently installed a new water pump and shift shaft bushing. Now, I have ratching in the lower unit that seems to come from the shift crank, spool or propeller shaft. I've attached a video for reference. Is it possible the shift crank or something shifted when I pulled the...

Teleflex 73742 trim gauge vs sender resistance values

Well I called Sierra tech support and they were unable to tell me the resistance values of the switch but did agree to refund me. Only other thing I know to do is get a replacement gauge but teleflex no longer makes my model. Any other suggestions?

Teleflex 73742 trim gauge vs sender resistance values

Good evening, I recently replaced my starboard trim sending unit with a sierra unit and cannot get the gauge dialed in. Symptoms are that gauge is pegged up with key off engine off and key on, engine off. This seems normal for this gauge as I verified other internet pictures show the same...

    5.7 slave cylinder wiring

It is a plastic case. But from I to ground is open and S to ground varies as it goes through the coil

    5.7 slave cylinder wiring

Ok, so I think the issue is this is the incorrect Slave Solenoid, even though I understand they function the same. This P/N is a SAZ-4201 which looks to be used on anything from Kohler applications to heavy truck lift gates. If I found the correct solenoid for my application, it is an 89-96158...

    5.7 slave cylinder wiring

I should mention the the engine currently starts and runs in current configuration without the ground wire hooked up to I terminal. FT said he thought the solenoid may be chassis grounded. If this is the case would hooking the ground wire up to the S or I terminal cause a short to ground?

    Mercarb 2BBL vacuum hose?

ok gotcha. So what then is the lower nipple that is capped on my carb for? Would it have been used on a 1998 or newer 5.7 but not an older 5.7 (1988-1994) model which I now have in my boat?

    Mercarb 2BBL vacuum hose?

Scott06: that is a set screw that is in place and not installed by me. this is a different engine from original. Based on the casting number of the block its a 1988-1994 SBC and the boat is a 1998. I'm also assuming that the carb is from the original 1998 5.7 which probably had an electric fuel...

    5.7 slave cylinder wiring

Gentlemen, As previously discussed i have a 1998 sunesta with an older 1988-1995 5.7 in it. I'm getting close to being done with the wiring and have a question on the slave cylinder wiring. Questions below: 1. I do not have any wire coming from the "I" ignition terminal and from doing some...

    Mercarb 2BBL vacuum hose?

Currently there is only the feed hose from the pump to the carb. The overflow fitting has a set screw in the carb. Is there another hose fitting you are talking about?

    Mercarb 2BBL vacuum hose?

Hello, Thank you for all the help thus far in getting my boat correct. I have the carb off to clean it, and this vacuum line was capped. Should it be, and if not, where should this be connected? It was capped on my 5.7

Mercruiser 5.7 with V6-14 TB IV module??

Ok, guys, I figured it out. Thank you for the assistance. I was missing the 12-volt constant on the coil. I found the wire and connected it. Now it's time for a carb rebuild.

Mercruiser 5.7 with V6-14 TB IV module??

Ok, so I verified that the coil has 12 volts present on the purple wire at the coil when cranking, and it is not present when the key is only in the run position. The kill switch appears to be working correctly, as it kills the blower alarm as soon as it is triggered.
