The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
The paint isn’t peeling but it’s got a lot of chips and rubbed off spots. I’m scared to buff it cause I think it’s pretty thin in some spots.
Thanks Scott, I’ll take a look at the link
I know this has probably been asked a million times but what’s the best option for restoring the paint on my boat. I want to keep it the same colour and would rather not soda blast it it and start fresh. Can I just sand it down an paint over the original paint or do I have to strip it bear...
Well thanks guys! Where is this anti-siphon valve supposed to be? The fuel lines have all been replaced by the previous owner and I don’t see anything along them that looks like a valve. I’m assuming he neglected to put it back. Or is it up higher near the carb?
Interesting. I’ve heard the opposite from car people. I switched my old diesel truck to a cheap electric pump that’s been on for like ten years. Made a huge difference. But I was just spit balling! How about just a regular old primer bulb? I went through the system last night and everything...
I’ve got an old a$$ 140 (1975) with priming issues and I’m looking for a solution. It idles great and revs up to just shy of 2000 rpm then bogs to the point where if I push it any further it’ll stall. It’s got an inline filter and it takes forever for it to fill with fuel but once it does the...
Yeah I managed to find a fitting that that screwed into it and hooked it to my hand pump. I got most of it out I think, but I’ll just suck the new stuff I put in after I use it this weekend and hopefully that’s a good enough flush. The oil I pulled out surprisingly wasn’t very milky
Yeah I’m gonna keep it well serviced and make it last as long as possible. The moment something goes wrong she’s getting sold and I’m getting something with a merc in it. Was very cheap for a big aluminum boat though so I have no complaints
Well I wound up taking the gears from the 140 and and tossing them into the 165, everything fits and turns great. I have yet to test it out on the lake but I’m hoping it holds up. Put new bearing seals and O rings in through out, hopefully she doesn’t explode 🤞
I’ve got an old StarCraft with a 140 omc in it and I was servicing the upper and lower units the other day. I have never serviced the intermediate because there doesn’t seem to be a drain plug anywhere (and believe me I’ve looked everywhere) and it bugs the hell out of me. There’s a fill plug at...
