    The rectifier is only converting power, it wouldn't prevent starting. It could cause a dead battery though.

    It could also be a damaged gear or a lubrication issue. Are you able to test the solenoid independently? Do you ever see it move?

    Sounds like whatever they connected it to has load generated when you give it throttle (limiting the power available to the hummingbird unit), maybe they didn't go directly to the source/fuse?

    Talking to a lawyer may cost you, but I would wonder if there's some precedent that would remove the limits of their liability... Depending on some of the details of their storage facility. Oh, and of course look at the contract...

    Speakers in same compartment as gas tank?

    Speakers likely won't spark, but there's electrical power going through them... Putting them with the gas fumes may not be a good idea.
