    Single point drain

Just to be on the safe side for the transom area, I plan to feed more antifreeze from the muffs on the sterndrive (Maybe some water left in exhaust manifolds, in the drive etc..). But I am worried that it may take too much time for the pink to appear on the exhaust (Because it took only 3...

    Single point drain

Yes NH.. Just moved here last winter, brought the boat in summer, so a bit stressed. Last winter the lakes all around here completely frozen for weeks, it was quite brutal. In summertime I boated both at lakes and also on the ocean. Always keep it on the trailer. I didn't know it can be drained...

    Single point drain

Yes it has power steering and fuel cooler both. I don't know if single point system drains them both. I'll try to check today if they have any drain plugs. After filling out with -50 pink AF yesterday, I didn't see anything coming out of the water intakes on the sterndrive. It shouldn't be...

    Single point drain

Sorry, not clear. So there is no water in the drive that I should worry, no need put antifreeze there? I checked the quick release disconnect on each side of the engine block, and AF came out nicely. So, is it all done? No need to run the engine and suck more AF thru the muffs?

    Single point drain

Ok, after draining the water using the round valve in the picture on my #8 post, I removed the thermostat block (only two screws, easier than removing the hose), I poured down 3 gallons of antifreeze and it looks full now. 1) Is it supposed to be 4.5 gallons? Where is the remaining 1.5 gallon...

    Single point drain

Doctor, is the plug on the picture the "quick disconnect fitting"? I found it on my engine (see picture) as well. Does it have the same function as blue manifold? I mean they are supposed to be out for draining as well? What is the difference between block drains and manifold drains? As I...

    Single point drain

Heat exchanger is for the hot water (see picture). The right side hoses come from the engine. The left side is fresh water (faucet, shower etc..). It needs to be winterized separately. Last year I did the left side (fresh water), used potable antifreeze. The shop told me when they did the...

    Single point drain

Thank you for the manuals link. It will need some digging, many items about 5.0 MPI. Could you answer my questions 2 (hoses) and 3 above, if possible? And about the heat exchanger (see attached picture), will the antifreeze naturally fill the hoses and the heat exchange with gravity? Thanks a...

    Single point drain

Allright, that does it ! :) When I open the round valve, water comes out abundant on the orange outlet in my initial post. Clearly that should be the main drain point. Now some questions for the remaining work: 1) What is the use of the blue tap/plug on the thermostat (left one on the picture)...

    Single point drain

No no, it is not a closed system. It takes the cooling water from the lake. (I guess it means open cooling, right?). I took it the shop last year and after that I made sure pink water came out from the plug above. And for the heat exchange and all the fresh water, I did it myself by putting...

    Single point drain

Attached are the serial numbers. I am worried that when I drain thru this plug, I might not be able to drain all the water in the engine. Is there any way to verify that?

    Single point drain

Hi folks, Planning to winterize my engine the first time. Actually, I was going to give it to a marine shop (I'm in NH), but all the shops are fully booked until November and it will be freezing on next Sunday night, so I guess I have no option other than DIY. It is a MerCruiser 5.0 MPI. After...

    Mercruiser 5.0 MPI idling problem

This folk seemed to have a similar problem, but I didn't exactly understand how he solved the problem. Is there a usage method that I can avoid this happening? https://forums.iboats.com/threads/mercruiser-5-0-mpi-idle-issues-replaced-iac-bad-part-update-added-video.665184/

    Mercruiser 5.0 MPI idling problem

I replaced the distributor cap and rotor, it seems like it helped a bit. But still, after engines warm up, the idling problems show up more often. As I mentioned, the worst situation is when I am back at the dock, lots of traffic, the engine is warm, I need switch gears back and forth often and...

    Mercruiser 5.0 MPI idling problem

I guess the switch is working. While the engine running in idle (it usually idles fine when engine is cold, right after start) I unplugged the switch connector, and the engine stopped.

I have the same problem. Did it fit? If so, where can I buy it? Thanks

    Mercruiser 5.0 MPI idling problem

It says there is no idle mixture screw on this engine, all is controlled by IAC, and replacing didn't help. About intake vacuum leak (checking vacuum hoses and connections for cracks, splits etc) I don't think I can handle this by myself. I am just an amateur hobby mechanic.

    Mercruiser 5.0 MPI idling problem

I removed the switch, it seems to be working. I put the relevant pictures below. (Pictures taken engine not working, shut) https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1C4441OqunqGX2PNX2MNgaz6m5E0ZwbeH?usp=sharing The only pins on the connector are 1 and 3 used. (2 is not connected anywhere)...

    Mercruiser 5.0 MPI idling problem

I put the relevant pictures below.. The throttle and flame arrestors are clean. The idling stick and screws are shown. I plan to increase the speed if this group approves it. Thanks in advance... https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1RwTvrV49JnI8JTjJONOhll_EymLjw5XR?usp=sharing
