    So far so good

I think this will be the third season on my 35 hp. It runs great. I did turn the idle down as low as i could get it to be able to troll. Problem I ran into is its too low to start sometimes. having to take cowling off to adjust low speed needle Is my only complaint about this wonderful outboard.

    So far so good

They're are basically what holds the powerhead onto the midsection. They fail and there is a bunch of play in the powerhead. This can lead to decreased performance and in theory powerhead could be come detached. Idk how extreme motor mount failure can get, but I imagine horribly.

    So far so good

2 things to report: The lithium starting battery I have used for the last 2 seasons has been perfect. My outboard is a 1980 35 HP tiller Johnson that only has the electric starter. Not the rectifier or stator so no charging available. I have run my fish finder and started off same 20 ah battery...

    Replacing Motor mounts

I’m trying to get YouTube to load this video. Went out and recorded the motor mounts on my outboard being replaced: they were completely shot. Ed the guy that works on them did exactly what flying Scott posted above.

Gentleman I know that had been working on these motors for many years said $160 labor to replace them. I’d say money well spent.

    Replacing Motor mounts

I was able to successfully replace the lower motor mount. I found a good video to help replace the hard one in the middle below the powerhead.. The one two on the side of the lower cowling I am not quite sure how to replace. Anyone have a link to a video?

Trailer bearing blowout. Need help with repair(s)

I not far behind you at all in this department. I check my tires and bearing before EVERY trip. My boat ramp is about 10 minute drive and I don't even want to have any problems that close to the house. I will venture about an hour away at the most. I have a small son that goes out with me often...

Trailer bearing blowout. Need help with repair(s)

yikes! my greatest fear on the road coming true. I stay so paranoid about my bearings and tires its way overkill. Glad no one is hurt. The $360 seems like a cheap lesson to learn.

    Lengthening a boat trailer

We did this to mine recently and its worked out great so far. I have a little 16 foot tin boat though, so weight isn't very heavy (1000 trailer and all i think).

Going rate on a good running 15hp?

My neck of the woods (Indy) Id say around 650-800 is average for a running motor. One with a warranty from the "motor guy" in town is about 1200.

    Strange boat disease strikes.

I was actually talking to a guy at the marina recently about this exact same thing. Lots of boats from 2000 and before seems to be rotting out. He said he thinks it has to do with increased corrosive components in the air. Like too much pollution or moisture or something similar not mixing well...

1990 Evinrude 9.9/15 still starting rough

Came home from work to do another cold test. Still hard to cold start motor. I am going to start looking for a leak of sorts. I think that’s probably the next issue.
