Can I plug the trim lines on a T/T unit and still use the tilt

I'm having trouble still with my tilt/trim unit on my old 89 Force 50 hp outboard. It will go up fine, but will not come down. So I am thinking if I plug the ports for the trim on the pump assembly I still maybe able to use just the tilt portion of the unit. Any comments gladly appreciated.

89 Force 50 HP Flush Muffs?

Thanks guys, I've order a dual flush round muff. I plan to cut it down to fit the motor leg as snug as possible. I'll let you know how it works... it will be next week or two. Supposed to snow here next Monday. So I'll have to wait a few days until I can do the flush and finish winterizing.

How do these spark plugs look to you?

The bottom plug in your hand appears to be getting a bit more fuel burn than the other plugs. Even so, in my experience with boat motors (on my second one) it is good rule of thumb to change plugs every year.

89 Force 50 HP Flush Muffs?

I've been told that unless you have an original Force flush muff for the Force outboard motor you can not use the standard flush muff. For several years I have been filling a large tub with water each time I wanted flush the motor. But this procedure is getting too difficult for this old...

Let us know how it worked out!

I ain't bashful, I have an issue with my 89 Force 50 HP T/T pump (valve body). I tried the Chinese motor and pump.... failure. So I hooked up an old Force T/T motor and pump (model FSH-209). But the threads on the port farthest from the boat (see pic) leaks. I've heard that leaks like this...

89 Force 50 HP Presolite T/T valve body leak

Ok guys, here is my issue as I stated before I tried the Chinese T/T motor and pump... failure. Then I tried an old Force T/T motor and pump (i.e. valve body) which worked great but the primary ram oil line leaks around the threads (see pic of threads; highlighted). Topgun did have an old...

89 Force 50 HP T/T not working properly

Not sure what was the issue with the DB motor and pump, all I know it would only work when tilting the outboard motor up. When trying to lower the engine down, nothing happened. When I replaced it with an old leaking Force tilt motor and pump the outboard engine raised and lowered as it was...

89 Force 50 HP Presolite T/T valve body leak

Well the "so-called" tap was nothing more than what he wanted to do was retap the threads to the next size up and then add a coupling. But to this would completely alter the oil line configuration. I informed I was not ready to do such a radical modification, yet. So I left with still having...

89 Force 50 HP Presolite T/T valve body leak

Thanks guys, I found a boat shop this morning that thinks he can retap the threads. And Skipper, it is a good point to remember when connecting the hydraulic lines to the valve body, that you loosen the all fittings so there is some movement of the entire line and that all fittings are finger...

89 Force 50 HP Presolite T/T valve body leak

I have an old Presolite T/T valve body that has a fluid leak around one of the hydraulic lines. My question is can these fitting ports be reamed out so the threads will seal tight? If not, is there a sealant that will seal the leak? Thanks guys.

89 Force 50 HP T/T not working properly

Well, I solved my problem... I returned the motor and pump to DB Electrical. Supposedly they are going to refund me. Now all I have in an old original Force Presolite motor and pump. The reason I bought the DB one was I the Presolite pump has a leak around the first hydraulic pipe (UP port...

89 Force 50 HP T/T not working properly

I know it sounds like air, but the problem is I cannot run it up or down. The outboard only goes up then I cannot get it down without loosening the tilt ram oil line.

89 Force 50 HP T/T not working properly

CLARIFICATION: The T/T motor works runs both up and down but the outboard motor goes up and stays in that position until I release a oil line on Tilt ram, then gravity will cause outboard to lower. Then I tighten the oil line and add more oil (outboard motor in fully down position), and tried...

89 Force 50 HP T/T not working properly

After having several issues with pump/motor o-ring I thought everything was ready to work. But now after adding hydraulic oil (synthetic ATF) to the oil chamber, my motor goes up... but not down. I have looked for a manual release valve, but my T/T apparently does not have one. I have two...

89 Force 50 hp lubing the throttle handle mechanism

Ok, I'll give the ole WD a try. I wasn't sure if I should use it on the plastic sleeve. Have a good one! :-)

89 Force 50 hp lubing the throttle handle mechanism

On my 89 Force 50 HP I recently discovered if I pull out on the handle on the control box this will put the transmission in neutral. This will permit the operator to have throttle control during the cold start. Awesome! Unfortunately my control box handle does not slide out very easily. What...

    89 Force Tilt/Trim Pump

The o-ring may have slipped, don't know... but it does have a nick in it. That's enough to allow oil to run out. Now if I can get this one pump re-installed without nicking, stretching, over tightening or any other type issue. " "I'll be walkin in tall cotton". Thanks guys for your input. :)
